Privacy Policy — Nimbus Weather

This Privacy Policy explains how Nimbus Weather (“we”, “our”, or “the app”) collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our iOS application.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Location Data

We collect your device’s GPS location only while the app is in use to provide accurate local weather forecasts and personalized clothing recommendations. Location data is processed on-device and sent to Apple WeatherKit and AccuWeather solely to retrieve weather information. We do not store your location on our servers.

1.2 Usage Data (Analytics)

We use Firebase Analytics (by Google) to collect anonymized usage data, including:

App open events and session duration
Features you interact with (e.g., forecast view, smart prep, settings)
City search queries you enter
Onboarding completion and notification permission status
Paywall views and subscription events

This data is used to improve the app experience and is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy.

1.3 Advertising Data

For free users, we display ads via Google AdMob. With your permission (requested via Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt), AdMob may collect your device’s advertising identifier (IDFA) to show personalized ads. If you decline tracking, non-personalized ads are shown instead. Ad data is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy.

1.4 Purchase Data

Subscription purchases are processed entirely by Apple via the App Store. We do not collect or store your payment information. We receive only the confirmation of your subscription status from Apple’s StoreKit framework.

1.5 Remote Configuration

We use Firebase Remote Config to securely deliver API keys and app configuration. No personal data is transmitted through this service.

2. How We Use Your Information

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with the following third-party services as necessary to operate the app:

Apple WeatherKit — weather data retrieval (Apple Privacy Policy)
AccuWeather — supplemental weather data (AccuWeather Privacy Policy)
Google Firebase — analytics and remote config (Google Privacy Policy)
Google AdMob — advertising for free users (Google Privacy Policy)
Apple App Store / StoreKit — subscription management

4. Data Retention

Location data is not stored beyond the active session.
Analytics data is retained by Firebase for up to 14 months per Google’s standard retention policy.
Ad identifiers are managed by Google AdMob per their data retention policies.
You may request deletion of your analytics data by contacting us (see Section 7).

5. Children’s Privacy

Nimbus Weather is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

6. Your Rights & Choices

Opt out of ad tracking: Go to iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking → Nimbus Weather → toggle off.
Opt out of personalized ads: Go to iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Apple Advertising → toggle off personalized ads.
Revoke location access: Go to iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Nimbus Weather.
Revoke notification access: Go to iOS Settings → Notifications → Nimbus Weather.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be indicated by the “Last updated” date at the top. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
